Terms of Use
Last updated June 6, 2026
Welcome to Pass the Chord. By using this website you agree to these terms. This is a general template — please have it reviewed by a qualified professional before relying on it.
Who we are
Pass the Chord is a nonprofit organization that collects, refurbishes, and donates musical instruments to families and students, and also buys instruments new when that's the best way to fill a request.
Instrument requests and donations
- Submitting a request does not guarantee an instrument. When a request comes in we work to source one — donated and refurbished, or bought new — and we'll keep you updated, including if we can't find a match.
- When you offer to donate an instrument, you confirm it is yours to give. We may decline items we're unable to use or restore.
- We arrange pickups and handoffs in good faith but cannot guarantee specific timing.
Monetary donations
Pass the Chord is not yet a registered 501(c)(3), and we are working toward that status. Until it is granted, gifts to Pass the Chord are not tax-deductible and we cannot issue tax receipts. We'll update this page if that changes. If you believe a donation was made in error, contact us at info@passthechord.org and we'll do our best to help.
Acceptable use
Please use this site lawfully and don't attempt to disrupt it, misuse our forms, or submit false information.
